Jan Norsetter is an award-winning oil painter known for vibrant landscape paintings en plein air (painting in the open air) and evocatively detailed studies in still life. She works to imbue her paintings with a sense of place and paints outdoors in every season—close to home in Wisconsin and on travels to the western United States and overseas to Italy, Ireland, Scotland, and Norway. Jan also paints rosemaling. She has exhibited in more than 30 juried, collaborative, or solo art shows. Selected paintings, prints, and her rosemaling are in many permanent and private collections. Awards include top honors in numerous plein air and rosemaling competitions. Jan continues to draw inspiration from respected mentors in oil painting and rosemaling, and she enjoys teaching.
