If you’ve ever thought about trying rosemaling, here’s a great opportunity to take the brush in hand! Rosemaling is an iconic and traditional Norwegian folk art. The class will include demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice. Students will be provided with all the supplies and materials needed to practice strokes and complete a project on a wooden bowl with a lid, including brushes, paints, medium, a wooden bowl, sandpaper, materials for transferring patterns, and a palette knife. Find out about the stylistic elements of Viksdal style rosemaling while learning how to prepare and base coat your surface, hold and clean your brush, do line work, and so much more. This class is perfect for anyone looking to improve their linework! The class will be taught using oil paints – if you've painted with acrylics, this would be a good opportunity to explore oil!
The listed class time includes three Zoom sessions on Friday, March 11 (6:00-8:00 pm CT) and Saturday, March 12 (9:00-11:00 am and 3:00-5:00 pm CT) as well as time on your own spent working on the stroke work and class project.
