- Level of Instruction
If you’ve ever thought about trying rosemaling, here’s a great opportunity to take the brush in hand and give it a try! Rosemaling is the wonderful folk art of Norway that is based on the flowing scrolls and flowers that are made up of "C" and "S" strokes. This class introduces students to these basic strokes that are the foundation of rosemaling as well as the detail line work that completes a rosemaling project. The class will include demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice. Students will be provided with all the supplies and materials needed to practice strokes and complete a project on board, including brushes, paints, medium, boards, and a palette knife. The class will be taught using acrylic paint. If you’ve painted with oil, this would be a good opportunity to explore acrylics. This will be a fun class that will give anyone who is interested in trying rosemaling that opportunity to dip your toe in the water, or actually tip your brush into the paint!
The listed class time includes three Zoom sessions (Saturday 9:00-10:30AM CT and 4:00-5:30PM, Sunday 12:00-1:30PM CT) as well as time on your own, spent working on the stroke work and class project.
Supplies: A complete kit of supplies (a $25 value) is included in the cost of enrollment. You'll also need a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
