Share your lunch break with Vesterheim Gold Medalist and rosemaling instructor Louise Bath as she highlights pieces from the collection painted by fellow Vesterheim Gold Medalists. Vesterhem's annual National Norwegian-American Folk Art Exhibition has a tradition of spotlighting amazing work entered by fantastic contemporary artists from all over the country and has been a great way to find out what’s happening today in the world of Norwegian-inspired folk art. This session of Collection Connections is the first in a multi-event series that will share the styles and strengths of artists who have been honored in past National Norwegian-American Folk Art Exhibitions. This event is open to both practicing rosemalers and folk-art enthusiasts alike.
Collection Connections is a series of Vesterheim-hosted conversations featuring beloved folk-art school instructors. Highlighting the incredible folk-art collection at Vesterheim, these conversations are also opportunities for you to stay connected with your folk-art community during this unpredictable time. Each event will highlight pieces from the collection as explained, interpreted, and appreciated by a master folk artist.

About the Instructor
Louise Bath first took rosemaling classes in Denver over 25 years ago, but it was her first class at Vesterheim in 2005 that started her on the journey to a Vesterheim Gold Medal, which she was awarded in 2017. She has been teaching rosemaling at the Trollheim Sons of Norway Lodge in Lakewood, Colorado since 2012 and for Vesterheim since 2017. Three trips to Norway (2013, 2016, and 2018) have given her a wealth of rosemaling knowledge and ideas. Completing a certificate in botanical art and illustration from the Denver Botanic Gardens in 2017 has added to her knowledge of technique and composition. She strives to give her rosemaling students not only a grounding in painting techniques, but also a review of the history and examples of the regional style.
