- Level of Instruction
- All levels, adults 18 and older. The technique involves very close handwork. Good lighting will help you be successful.
In this virtual class, you will learn to make a Sámi-inspired, iconic, three-strand braided bracelet using traditional materials of reindeer leather, pewter thread, and a reindeer antler button. The pewter is nickel-free and contains 4% silver. A kit of materials (with enough supplies to make one bracelet) and a special treat from Vesterheim will be sent to you (a $60 value!).
The class will consist of three sessions over two days, and each session will be accompanied by a short video that will help you see the hand-work techniques up close. In between each session you will have time to complete the steps that Norma has discussed and demonstrated before moving on to the next part of the bracelet construction.
This class happens in three sessions:
- Saturday, June 5 - 10:00 am-Noon CT
- Saturday, June 5 - 4:00-5:30 pm CT

About the Instructor
Norma Refsal’s passion for metalsmithing began when her family lived in Telemark, Norway, in the late 1980s. After gaining experience, she began creating jewelry for the twenty-first century based on traditional Scandinavian-inspired, or neo-Nordic, designs. She creates jewelry for daily wear out of silver, leather, wood, and enamel, finding the simplicity of the design to be both timeless and elegant.
