Enjoying coffee with others has long been an important feature of Scandinavian culture. In this class, Hannah Garry, from Decorah-based coffee bar and roaster Impact Coffee, will take participants through the journey of a coffee bean from farm to roastery. Learn how different growing climates, processing methods, and roasting techniques affect the flavor of your favorite coffee beans. Participants will be mailed two samples of Impact Coffee from different origins to prepare during class using the pour-over method. We will compare tasting notes as a class and discuss the differences we taste in the two different coffees.
The listed class time includes one Zoom session on Saturday, September 25 (11:00am-Noon CT).
Supplies: A complete kit of supplies including two 8 oz. bags of coffee, a Hario dripper, filters, and a special treat from Vesterheim (a $45 value!) is included in the cost of enrollment. You'll also need a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
Special Instructions: When registering for the class, please make sure to use the address you'd like the kit shipped to, and the email address you'd like the Zoom meeting invitations sent to. You will receive links to the Zoom sessions by email sometime during the week prior to the class. If this class is a gift, please sign up with the recipient's mailing and email addresses or be prepared to forward all communications and/or kit supplies.

About the Instructor
Hannah Garry has worked in the specialty coffee industry for five years, and is currently the assistant bar manager at Impact Coffee in Decorah, Iowa, where she creates the seasonal coffee and cocktail menus. She loves coffee, whisky, and the craft of building a delicious, balanced drink. She is constantly in search of flavor combinations that surprise and delight and loves experimenting with new drink recipes.
