Kaffe (coffee) has long been used as an ingredient in spirits and cocktails, and it has a special place in the hearts of Norwegians and Norwegian-Americans. Whether you like kicking off Sunday brunch with a Maple Whisky Coffee or sipping an Espresso Martini over happy hour, coffee cocktails can be enjoyed at just about any time of day, and are sure to get a good "buzz" going in just about every way!
In the first session, participants will prepare the coffee liquer and coffee bitters and discuss making the cold brew using Impact Coffee (roasted in Decorah, Iowa). In the second session, we'll learn a bit of history about classic coffee cocktails and how to make four coffee cocktails at home: a Hot Maple Whiskey Coffee, a Chocolate Espresso Martini, a Norwegian Snow that is a variation on the White Russian, and a Coffee Old Fashioned. We'll also go over some basic cocktail crafting techniques that, paired with a few simple ingredients and good quality coffee and spirits, will allow you to make and enjoy a delicious variety of coffee cocktails from your very own home. No special equipment necessary, whether you're a coffee geek or a budding home mixologist, or just someone who appreciates good coffee and a well-made drink – this class is for you!
The listed class times include two Zoom sessions on Saturdays November 13 and 20 (1:00-2:00pm CT).
